FAQ
1. Where is the university?
It is in Georgia, East Europe, next to Turkey. It is an independent country, about the size of Switzerland.
2. What is the cost of the course?
Tuition fee is 8000 USD a year.
3. What about the internship?
As per ministry of education of Georgia MBBS program is for 6 years (360 credit), 6 th year is internship. Indian students have the opportunity to do the internship in India provided they clear the MCI eligibility test. On completion of one year internship in India student returns to Georgia for their final examination and graduation.
4. The fee for all six years has to be deposited at the same time?
First yeartuition fee is paid at the time of admission. From second year onwards tuition fee is paid one month before the beginning of the academic year.
5. Is there a Hostel facility?
DTMU is the only University in Georgia that provides Hostel facility within the campus. Girls and boys are in separate floors. Indian meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are available free of charge for students staying in the hostel.
6. What are the hostel fees?
We have 2, 3 and 4 sharing rooms.
Twin room costs 350 per month
3 sharing 250 per month
4 sharing is 200 USD per month
Hostel fees are paid in the beginning of the semester for 6 months of duration.Please check the room availability at the time of admission. Twin rooms are limited and subject to availability.
Please NOTE: Staying in the hostel for the first year students is mandatory.
7. Is it safe to send girl students there?
Majority of the students going from India to DTMU are girls. University campus has 24 hours security. They follow strict protocol to isure students are back to the campus at a stipulated time. All entries and exits of students are recorded.
8. What are the other expenses, apart from the tuition and hostel fee?
Other expanses are personal such as i traveling to the city, going to restaurants, phone bills, internet, shopping.
For example, there is an internet WIFI & Laudry facility free on the campus, but Detergent is personal expense of for the students.
Please Note: Students staying at the hostel don’t have to travel dayily for their classes.
9. What makes DTMU stand apart from other medical universities in Georgia?
DTMU follows USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) syllabus. The students have a choice to appear in USMLE Exams in the 3nd and 5th year of their course. If they clear these two steps then they are eligible to go to USA for work or for further studies once their course is over. Studying from Kaplan books makes it easier for DTMU students to clear USMLE exams. A major percentage of DTMU students clear USMLE and manage to go to USA for further education.
10. Is the college recognized by MCI? Or in other words, are the MBBS doctors from this college allowed to work in India once they come back after completing the course?
The college is listed in World Directory of Medical Schools, published by WHO, thus it is recognised by MCI. However, MCI takes a test of all the students once they complete their course abroad and come back to India. It is called a ‘Screening Test’.

11. Why choose Georgia over Russia or Ukraine?
Georgia is a country which has become an inspiration to many other nations of the Eurasia region, especially because it has managed to transform itself towards being a true democracy post Soviet era. When compared with Russia and Ukraine one would find that Georgia is better developed, it is much safer. 12. What is the climate like in Georgia?
In summers the maximum temperature can touch upto 35 deg centigrade and in winters the minimum temperature can reach around minus 5 degree centigrade. The climate is much more moderate compared to Russia and Ukraine.
Please Note: There is a centralized heating and air conditioning system installed in the campus.
13. What is the food in Georgia like?
Fruits and vegetables are aplenty in Georgia. Georgian people like to eat a lot of salads and vegetables in their diet and it is easily available in restaurants and in market. There are many small eateries and cafes in the city where the students get reasonable priced good food. Tandoori naans, khachapuri (cheese naans), rajma, khinkali (momos-paneer or non veg) etc are some popular street food and is available everywhere.
Please Note: There are many indian restaurants and big supermarkets available at walking distance from the campus.
14. Do Indian students face discrimination or racism?
The Georgian culture is very hospitable and there is no racism whatsoever. We advise students to maintain discipline and respect the culture of Georgia while they are studying there. We believe that students from India must behave in a manner which would bring a good name and reputation to their motherland.
15. What is the religion followed in Georgia?
Majority of population (90%) in Georgia follow Christianity.
16. Can one stay back after the course and work in Georgia as a doctor?
Working in Georgia is possible, however, students of DTMU get a lot of opportunities to go to UK and USA – Most of the times they choose that option.
17. Are students allowed to work in Georgia?
Its simple. If you are a student at DTMU you do not have time to work.
You study, study and study.
